I have been blogging sense February 20, 2012. As you follow along with me, you will see more and more changes on my blog. I have yet to develop my blog to how I want it. I am learning as I go and loving the challenge. Uhhhh...the possibilities. I have dreams I'd like to see come to life and I hope to use "Mamita's Next Thing" as a venue to help be do so.
I'm a wife to an amazing man, who allows me to take on any creative journey I want to take. And who's father told him that it's less expensive to let your wife craft than to pay a shrink. Smart man I'd say. I know that I wouldn't be the creative person I am with out my husband and his family. They taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. And if that didn't work go on to the next thing. Which sparked my love of learning. I did not like reading until my husband introduced me to "Harry Potter". They really helped me open many doors in my life. I also am a stay at home mom of 2 adventurous children, a boy 6, and a girl 2 1/2 soon to be 3 (she is the most adventurous and keeps me on my toes). I think fashion may be one of her strong suits {wink}. I love to make things.... anything I can get my hands on. I'm always trying new things. I use my crafty time as my "me time". I find that creating helps me to rejuvenate my self. And Time is something I am look for more of.
Yep, 8760 hours a year, plus the occasional 24 hours we get every 4 years are just not enough.
I grew up in a little town in Northern California. And after graduating from high school I moved to the big city of San Francisco. There, I attended the Academy of Art College (now the University of Art College). I got my BFA in Fashion design, and although I didn't pursue it for my career it has been my foundation to what I do. I have always loved drawing, painting, and sculpting. My love of sewing and design came while still a young'n, as I watched my aunts in Mexico sew away, creating beautiful things. After my son turned one I decided to venture into the land of cake baking and decorating. I took and taught the "Wilton" classes and took some other gum paste classes on making flowers.
I am a believer in Jesus Christ. I do call my self a Christian. And I will from time to time mention my Lord and Savior. I grew up Catholic and during my early 20s I journeyed into The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saint (LDS). There I met my husband and we got married in the temple. Soon after we left the LDS church and in June 2010, my heart was opened to the beauty of who Jesus Christ is. I have never known Him like I do now. I enjoy my inductive bible study that I do through Precept Ministries. The biggest thing I have learned is that I need to Love others no matter what.
I have had quite a spiritual and creative journey and would love to share what I know with you.
I love inspiration and I hope that I can inspire you.
Love and Smiles!
